Tested in arenas around the globe, the Wolfgang® Special is a true music-making machine, designed with stunning style, massive sound, and high-speed playability.
The Wolfgang Special features a basswood body with an arched top and a robust graphite-reinforced bolt-on quartersawn maple neck. This neck is carved and rolled to Eddie Van Halen's specifications and boasts a hand-rubbed urethane back finish. With performance in mind, the 12"-16" compound radius maple fingerboard includes 22 jumbo frets and black dot inlays. Truss rod adjustments are made effortless thanks to a conveniently located spoke wheel at the neck's base.
A pair of flagship custom-designed black EVH® Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups are mounted directly to the body, providing dynamic yet articulate voicing, along with endless sustain for powerful chords and melodic lines. The sturdy and reliable EVH-branded Floyd Rose® locking tremolo and Floyd Rose locking nut work in tandem for precise tuning, even with extreme pitch changes. Meanwhile, the EVH D-Tuna® allows you to retune to drop-D and back with strict accuracy at the flick of a switch, aided by a low-friction volume control for smooth swells and a high-friction tone control to prevent accidental tone shifts.
